New Zealand consumer confidence weakened to 89.2 in Q1 2025, from 97.5 in Q4 2024

Westpac-McDermott Miller New Zealand consumer confidence index fell to 89.2 in Q1 2025

  • from 97.5 in Q4 last year
  • global trade war risks and ongoing cost of living pressures cited as impacting
  • Westpac said poor results are likely for "a few more months at least"

For this index, a reading below 100
indicates more pessimists than optimists.
