Ripple Promotes Monica Long as President

<p>Ripple has promoted its long-time employee Monica Long as its new President. She has been working with the <a href="https://www.financemagnates.com/terms/b/blockchain/" class="terms__secondary-term" id="be18ed01-45fc-4044-b447-06802a10dbcd" target="_blank">blockchain</a>-based payments company for the last ten years. The promotion came when the <a href="https://www.financemagnates.com/tag/ripple/" target="_blank" rel="follow">blockchain company</a> expanded in liquidity, settlement, and custody areas.</p><p>Ripple Elevates Monica Long</p><p>"From the moment I first met Monica nearly eight years ago at Ripple, it was clear that she was a force to be reckoned with," said the CEO of Ripple, Brad Garlinghouse. In that role, she was responsible for the development and growth of <a href="https://www.financemagnates.com/cryptocurrency/news/ripple-enhances-global-presence-launches-ripplenets-odl-in-brazil/" target="_blank" rel="follow">On-Demand Liquidity (ODL)</a> and global customer success.</p><p>She joined Ripple in September 2013 and was among the company's first dozen employees, which now has more than 950 employees, according to Linkedin. Even before joining Ripple, she worked in public relations for multiple companies. She started her career as a Public Relations Manager at TheCulturalConnect and also worked at LEWIS PR and Intuit.</p><p>"Looking back over my tenure, I can say without a doubt that I've been lucky enough to be surrounded by some of the smartest, most innovative people in crypto and tech, as we tackled some huge audacious goals- like being able to send money instantly for fractions of a penny around the world," Long said.</p><p>Meanwhile, Ripple has been fighting a <a href="https://www.financemagnates.com/thought-leadership/sec-vs-ripple-why-it-affects-us-all/" target="_blank" rel="follow">long court battle with the US securities regulator</a>, which alleged that the blockchain firm's cryptocurrency, XRP, is an unregistered security. The SEC brought the case to court in December 2020, and Garlinghouse said earlier this month that the legal fight might be resolved this year.</p>
