Gold price stays firm ahead of US inflation data

Gold prices edged up during Tuesday's North American session after Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell appeared at the US Senate Banking Committee and stated that inflation is moving toward the Fed's 2% goal, yet it is not ready to lower borrowing costs.
